Pump Systems & Pits Sydney

Most pump problems are not just about the pump itself. A pump is one component in a complete system — and when any part of that system fails, the whole thing stops working. At Sewer Pump Services we work on complete pump systems and pits across Greater Sydney, handling everything from the pit in the ground through to the control panel on the wall.

Whether you need a new sewer pump pit installed, a stormwater pit repaired, a control panel replaced or a complete ageing system upgraded — we handle the full scope of work under one roof. One call, one licensed team, everything taken care of.

Complete Pump System Services

Sewer Pump Pits

The pump pit is the foundation of your sewer pump system. A correctly sized, properly installed and well-maintained pit is essential to the reliable operation of the entire system. We supply, install and repair sewer pump pits for residential homes, strata buildings and commercial properties across Sydney.

What we do:

  • Supply and install new sewer pump pits sized correctly for your application

  • Repair cracked, damaged or deteriorating existing pits

  • Replace undersized pits that are causing your pump to work harder than it should

  • Inspect and clean pits as part of routine pump servicing

  • Install gas-tight pit lids, access covers and ventilation

A damaged or incorrectly sized sewer pump pit is one of the most commonly overlooked causes of recurring pump problems.  \
If your pump keeps failing or struggling to keep up, the pit itself may be the issue.
A damaged pit may also result in leaking sewer into your residence/property.

Stormwater Pits

A stormwater pit collects surface water and roof runoff before it is pumped away from your property. The pit needs to be correctly sized for your property's catchment area — too small and it overflows, too large and the pump cycles inefficiently.

What we do:

  • Design and install new stormwater collection pits matched to your property's catchment area

  • Repair and restore damaged or cracked stormwater pits

  • Replace undersized pits that are causing overflow during heavy Sydney rain events

  • Install inlet grates, screens and covers to prevent debris entering the system

  • Clean and maintain existing stormwater pits as part of annual servicing

Sydney properties in low-lying suburbs, below street level or in areas prone to heavy seasonal rainfall particularly benefit from a correctly designed and installed stormwater pit and pump system.

Pump Control Panels

The control panel is the brain of your pump system. It controls when the pump starts and stops, monitors system performance and triggers alarms when something goes wrong. A faulty or incorrectly wired control panel causes pump failures, nuisance alarms and in some cases complete system failure.

What we do:

  • Supply and install new pump control panels for sewer and stormwater systems

  • Repair and rewire faulty or deteriorating control panels

  • Replace outdated panels on ageing systems

  • Upgrade single pump panels to dual pump configurations for strata and commercial sites

  • Test and certify control panel operation as part of installation and servicing

  • Install remote monitoring capability so faults are notified automatically

If your pump alarm keeps going off, your pump is not responding correctly or your panel looks old and weathered — it may be time for a control panel inspection or replacement.

Float Switches & Alarms

Float switches tell the pump when to turn on and off based on the water level inside the pit. Alarm floats trigger an alert when the water level reaches a critical point. These simple components are responsible for a surprisingly high proportion of pump system failures — and they are one of the most cost-effective repairs we carry out.

What we do:

  • Replace failed or fouled float switches on sewer and stormwater pump systems

  • Install and replace high-level alarm floats and sensors

  • Test float switch operation and set correct activation levels

  • Install audible and visual alarm panels for residential, strata and commercial systems

  • Replace level sensors and transducers on more complex pump control systems

  • Adjust float switch positions to optimise pump cycling and reduce wear

If your pump is running continuously, not starting when it should or your alarm is triggering without an obvious cause — a float switch fault is often the first thing to check.

Why the Whole System Matters

A pump system is only as reliable as its weakest component. We regularly attend callouts where a perfectly good pump has failed prematurely because of a fault elsewhere in the system — a float switch that never turned the pump off, a blocked rising main that caused the motor to overheat, a cracked pit that allowed ground water ingress.

Treating the pump in isolation and ignoring the rest of the system is the reason many Sydney properties have the same pump problem repeatedly. We look at the complete system every time — pit, pump, pipework, panel and floats — so we fix the real cause, not just the symptom.
